This website is dedicated to our son Adam…
Our son Adam was born in June 2003. We also have a daughter named Amanda and I have a daughter named Amber. When my wife was
pregnant we were very ecstatic to learn that we were finally having a baby boy, since this was going to be our last child… When Adam was born
everything was normal, my wife had a natural birth and was released from the hospital on time, and we took our beautiful son home.
When Adam turned one year old, we started noticing that he was not receptive to us calling him, he would just sit in front of the television and
not respond to his name. This worried me and my wife very much, at first we thought Adam had a hearing problem. We took him to a specialist
many times to get his hearing check, but every time he would cry when they would try to place the headphones on his ears. After several tries,
we decided to take him to a neurologist,
In 2004 my wife and I found out our son Adam was autistic, it was devastating to us since we were not aware of what autism was at the time.
Adam has been in early intervention since he was 18 months. The two biggest challenges we were faced with were his feeding and speech.
Adam did not eat solid foods or speak very well, all of his foods had to be puree, and Adam was completely non-verbal until he was past his
fourth birthday.
Adam attends The Howard Haber School in Bronx, NY, and with help from early intervention, speech, language and occupational therapy
through the school he has become more verbal and is now starting to eat solid foods. This is a tremendous step for us.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff and exceptional teachers at the Howard Haber School for their tremendous efforts and patience with
our son Adam.
